Terms of Service
Plain-language terms for using StickTale. The most important parts: you own your videos, you check facts before publishing, and you follow the rules of the platforms you post on.
Agreement
These terms are a contract between you and StickTale ("StickTale", "we") for your use of the website, the app at /create and any paid plan. By using StickTale you accept them. If you use it for an organization, you confirm you can bind that organization.
Who can use StickTale
You must be at least 18 years old. StickTale relies on AI services whose terms do not allow use by minors, so it is not for children or students under 18. Teachers can show videos they made to their classes.
Keep your account details secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
Your videos and content
You own what you make. As between you and us, you own the topics, scripts, pictures, narration and videos you create with StickTale, and you may use them commercially, including on monetized YouTube channels, TikTok, courses and client work.
You give us a limited license to process your content only to provide the service (for example, sending your topic to our AI providers to write the script). We do not use your content to train AI models and do not claim ownership of it.
AI systems can produce similar output for different users, so we cannot promise your video is unique, and you cannot stop others from making videos about the same topic.
Accuracy and your responsibility
Scripts are researched with Google Search and fact-checked by an editor pass, but AI can still be wrong, out of date or oversimplified. Check facts before you publish, especially numbers, dates, quotes, health, legal and financial claims. StickTale videos are not professional, financial, medical or legal advice.
You are responsible for what you publish and for following the rules of the platforms you post on, including YouTube’s policies on reused, repetitious and AI-generated content and its requirements to disclose realistic altered or synthetic content.
Acceptable use
Do not use StickTale to create or publish content that:
- is illegal, or promotes violence, terrorism, self-harm or the abuse or sexualization of minors;
- harasses, threatens or demeans people based on protected characteristics;
- defames real people, or depicts them saying or doing things they did not in a way meant to deceive;
- is deliberately false or misleading information, such as election, health or financial misinformation;
- infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or other rights;
- is sexually explicit.
Using the service fairly
Do not:
- try to get around usage limits, share accounts or resell access;
- scrape, overload, reverse engineer or probe the service or its API, or use it to build a competing product;
- use automated scripts to generate videos except through features we provide for that.
Plans, billing and cancellation
Paid plans renew automatically each month until you cancel. Payments are processed by our payment provider. Prices are shown before you pay, plus any tax that applies.
Each plan includes an amount of video per month. Redrawing pictures and re-voicing lines uses part of that amount. Unused amounts do not roll over.
You can cancel any time; your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. We will tell you at least 30 days before a price change affects your next renewal. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
Changes and availability
We improve StickTale often, which can change how features work. We depend on third-party AI providers and cannot promise uninterrupted service. If we stop offering a paid plan, we will refund the unused part of any prepaid period.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, after a warning when that is reasonable. You can stop using StickTale at any time. Projects are stored in your browser, so export anything you want to keep.
Disclaimers
StickTale is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we do not promise that a video will reach any number of views or meet a platform’s monetization rules.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or gross negligence.
Indemnity
If someone makes a claim against us because of content you published or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, unless the claim is caused by our own fault.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where the operator of StickTale is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and can bring claims there.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For significant changes we will notify account holders at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use StickTale after that means you accept the new terms. Questions: legal@sticktale.com.
